Valverde Says if He'd Knock Morata Down Again to Win Supercopa: I'm Not Going To...

Valverde talks about the incident with Morata in the 2020 Super Cup and comments on whether he'd do it again

Federico Valverde is one of Real Madrid's most outstanding players due to his importance on the field. A player who, from a very young age, has won Madrid fans' hearts to the point of being one of the favorites of the supporters. However, everything changed specifically in an action during the 2020 Super Cup with Morata.

That action completely won him the affection of the entire Madrid fanbase for stopping the former Madrid forward, thus saving the final. He's been asked about this and whether he would do it again if needed, and he answered. "I'm not going to talk about that; I don't know if it was right or wrong, but back then it was good for the team, and I stick with that."

Even though it was an action that will definitely remain in the memory of Madrid fans, the player doesn't seem very comfortable talking about it. However, like any professional, he prioritizes the benefit of his team over anything else.

Valverde is clear about it

The Uruguayan player has become one of the world's best midfielders and one of Real Madrid's best players today. Something that this season has been highly evident with more than 2,300 minutes in 28 games.

The amount of minutes this player can enjoy both this and last season is impressive. However, none of this could have been possible without that action that saved the team from a painful defeat against Atlético de Madrid.

The Uruguayan seems quite clear that this action is not something he dedicates himself to judging or, at least, remembering like many Madrid fans. However, he knows perfectly well that for the benefit of the team, it was the best possible decision. Even Cholo Simeone applauded him for it.

He did the right thing

Unlike what anti-Madrid sentiment wants to make everyone see, the player did what he had to do on the field without hurting the opponent. A decision that, being so young, is very difficult to make, but he, who is destined to succeed at Madrid, did it.
