Real Madrid already has a date for its only friendly before the start of the league season. After an unusual summer marked by the long Club World Cup, Xabi Alonso's side will return to action next Tuesday, August 12.

The opponent will be WSG Tirol, a team from the Austrian Bundesliga. The match will be played at Tivoli Stadium in Innsbruck, which holds about 17,000 spectators. The match is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. (Spanish peninsular time).

An unexpected friendly

Real Madrid didn't have a conventional preseason planned. The previous season ended late, with the semifinal against PSG in the Club World Cup as its last commitment. That's why the return to work has been shorter than usual.

However, Valdebebas has chosen to play at least one friendly before the official start of the season. It will be a good opportunity to see several new signings in action and to check the team's physical condition after the holidays.

League debut just days later

Just seven days after the friendly in Austria, Real Madrid will make its LaLiga debut. It will be on Monday, August 19, against Osasuna, at Santiago Bernabéu stadium. The match will kick off at 9:00 p.m.

Xabi Alonso will use the match against WSG Tirol to adjust his starting eleven and distribute minutes. He will also evaluate the players competing for a spot in the final squad.

Where to watch the match?

For now, no television channel has been confirmed to broadcast WSG Tirol - Real Madrid. Even so, Defensa Central and its YouTube channel will follow the match live, with minute-by-minute commentary.

It is likely that in the coming days a channel with rights to broadcast the friendly will be announced.

Short schedule, maximum demands

With only one preparatory match, the margin for maneuver will be slim. Madrid trusts the core of the team and the intensity of the training sessions at Valdebebas.

Everything suggests that this friendly will be key to seeing who's ready to start strong. The 2025-26 season begins with demands at their highest.
