Xabi Alonso can cancel Carreras's signing, there are 2 bombs on the club's table
Yusi and Diego Aguado are on the list of players drafted for the Club World Cup, and they have a strong chance of getting minutes on the field
Álvaro Carreras's signing didn't arrive in time. Real Madrid didn't manage to finalize the signing with Benfica before the registration deadline for the Club World Cup.
The Whites offered €40 million and the Portuguese club wouldn't go below €48 million. The €8 million difference has stalled the deal... for now.
Given this situation, Fran García will be the only left-back from the first team available for Xabi Alonso. However, he won't be alone.
Two academy players have an opportunity
In the squad list for the trip to the United States, two new names appear for many: Youssef Enríquez and Diego Aguado. Two academy players. Two real options to cover the left flank.
Yusi, 19 years old, has already been drafted by Morocco's senior national team, although he didn't make his debut. His profile is offensive: a winger converted into a full-back.

He is fast, daring, and has a good shot. In defense, he still has room for improvement, especially in a back four. Even so, the club highlights his maturity.
Meanwhile, Diego Aguado, 18 years old, is a different profile. More composed, with better game reading and good ball distribution. He can also play as a center-back.
At Madrid, they see him as one of Castilla's most promising talents. In addition, he made his debut with the first team in the Copa del Rey against Deportiva Minera, playing all 90 minutes.
Saving €50 million?
The Club World Cup could determine the immediate future of Real Madrid's left-back position. If either of the two young players performs well in the tournament, the club could reconsider the investment in Carreras.
There is division within the sporting management. Some believe they should bet on the young talent from La Fábrica.
Others see Carreras as a safe long-term bet. In fact, Benfica's full-back spent time in Madrid's academy, but he didn't get opportunities.
Meanwhile, Mendy remains injured and Camavinga, used as an emergency left-back, arrives at the competition in a weakened state. This opens the door for the academy players. Yusi and Aguado could get minutes in the United States, although everything will depend on their performance.
Xabi Alonso has closely followed both during training, but he wants to see them compete. The club does too, and the Club World Cup is the perfect showcase for that.
If they shine, they could earn a place in the first team. At the same time, prevent Madrid from spending €50 million on a signing that already had a plan B at home.
