Xabi Alonso chooses the penalty taker for this season: the debate is over

The Real Madrid star who has been chosen by Xabi Alonso to take all the penalties

During last season, Real Madrid never had an official penalty taker. With penalties being shared between Mbappé, Vinícius, and even Bellingham, Xabi has changed this for the next season. According to information from the newspaper Marca, the Basque coach has chosen Mbappé as the penalty taker.

A decision that shows the importance Mbappé is gaining as a Real Madrid player. In addition, this decision can be seen as a reward after the great season the Frenchman had. Despite it being his debut campaign, Mbappé managed to break several scoring records and win the desired Golden Boot.

According to what we know at Defensa Central, Mbappé will be a key player for Xabi Alonso. In the few minutes he managed to play in the Club World Cup, the Frenchman showed flashes of his talent. Now, recovered and after a well-deserved rest, Mbappé is ready to start the season.

An honor for Mbappé

After 8 seasons as a PSG player, last summer finally saw the arrival of Kylian Mbappé at Real Madrid. A move that excited the player himself and, of course, thousands of Madridist fans around the world. Although Mbappé had a complicated start, the Frenchman managed to reconnect with his best version.

In 59 matches played last season, Mbappé managed to score 44 goals. This is a record with which he was able to prove his enormous quality in front of goal. However, when it came to taking penalties, Mbappé had some very serious misses.

His missed penalty against Liverpool is an example that Mbappé was not so sharp in this area. Even so, Xabi Alonso has made the decision that the Frenchman will now be the only one responsible. After his great end to the season, Mbappé earned the right to be the penalty taker.

Expanding his records

Even though Mbappé doesn't need penalties to be a lethal striker, his records will benefit from being the official taker. As he has shown in the past, Mbappé is ready to take on this responsibility when the time comes.
