Zubimendi isn't the only one: Arsenal's second 'theft' from Real Madrid in the market

The London team wants to pay the release clause for Joan García, Espanyol's goalkeeper, who interests Real Madrid

Real Madrid has received a new setback in the transfer market. Arsenal is about to finalize the signing of Joan García, Espanyol's goalkeeper.

According to The Independent, the London club wants to bring in the young goalkeeper as a backup for David Raya for the upcoming season.

The operation is progressing quickly. It is Arsenal's second move that directly interferes with Real Madrid's plans.

Joan García, followed from Valdebebas

Real Madrid has been following Joan García's development for months, a 24-year-old goalkeeper and one of the great promises of Spanish soccer.

In Valdebebas, they value his profile very positively. Reflexes, agility, character under the posts, and good footwork.

He had been noted as a future option to strengthen the white goal.

With Lunin's renewal until 2029 and Courtois's presence, the signing wasn't urgent. But it was considered a strategic operation thinking in the medium term.

Arsenal, however, has been quicker. They have identified Espanyol's goalkeeper as the ideal replacement for Neto, who is on loan from Bournemouth.

Second blow after Zubimendi

This move comes just after Arsenal also got ahead of Real Madrid for Martín Zubimendi, Real Sociedad's midfielder.

Zubimendi was a target for the white club in the midfield. An interest that was boosted after Xabi Alonso's arrival.

But Arsenal moved with greater determination. They agreed with the player and are willing to activate his 60 million clause.

Now, with Joan García, the Londoners get ahead again. Two operations in a matter of days that directly affect Real Madrid's transfer plan.

From the white club, they insist they won't enter bidding wars. Their policy is clear: if a player prioritizes another destination, they won't force the situation.

Even so, it is striking that two consecutive names on the sports management's agenda end up close to Arsenal.

Zubimendi and Joan García seem to be already on their way to London.

Real Madrid takes note. Meanwhile, Arsenal keeps fishing in white territory.
