Alaba's salary, a major problem for Real Madrid: the Austrian, singled out

In recent years, Real Madrid has made several top-level signings as free agents. As the player with the second-highest salary at Real Madrid, this is causing problems. The center-back, since December 2023, has spent more time off the field than on it due to his constant injuries. Although Alaba managed to play a few minutes last season, these showed that his performance had worsened.

According to what we know at Defensa Central, Real Madrid believes that Alaba has already given what he had to give. The best thing for the 33-year-old center-back is simply to leave the club this summer. However, few clubs are interested in signing the experienced center-back.

David Alaba, who arrived at Real Madrid in the summer of 2021, has become a risk. Just last season, Alaba was able to play only 599 minutes. A rather limited amount of time for a center-back who has an excessive salary.

Real Madrid's solution

Given the impossibility of being able to sell Alaba, Real Madrid has the option to wait until the end of his contract.  Next season would be Alaba's last with the Merengue team. However, it is not ruled out that the club could push for his departure this summer.
