Ancelotti Speaks out on Tchouaméni as a Possible Center-back: 'He Won't be a Starter...'

The Real Madrid coach spoke about the presence of a French player in his formation

Real Madrid drew in Vallecas a match that they could have won if Martínez Munuera had awarded Abdul Mumin's penalty on Vini Jr. The Whites were losing 2-0 at the time, but equalized before the break with a great goal from Fede Valverde and a goal from Jude Bellingham .

In the second half, Rodrygo Goes completed the comeback in the 56th minute, but Isi made it 3-3 eight minutes later . However, Rayo Vallecano didn't lose face in the game and tied the match through Isi Palazón . The Merengue team once again showed a clear defensive weakness and missed the opportunity to take the lead.

A clear penalty on Vini Jr. affects the match

The match was already back and forth and in the 75th minute the most controversial play of the match came. Vini Jr. was clearly brought down inside the area by Mumin, but Martínez Munuera didn't call a penalty nor was he warned by González Fuertes, the VAR referee .

Real Madrid don't understand the referee's decision. An action in which the Rayo Vallecano defender blatantly hits Vini Jr. in the leg and in which absolutely nothing is called.

The Chamartín team is already thinking about the Intercontinental Cup, but the feeling that it could have been won in Vallecas is real. However, the best thing to do is to turn the page and continue fighting in each and every one of the next matches.

Ancelotti's message about Tchouaméni

One of Real Madrid 's biggest problems this season is their defensive weakness. Against Rayo Vallecano, the Whites conceded two goals in 36 minutes. A rather worrying sign at this stage of the season.

In Vallecas, Carlo Ancelotti opted for Aurélien Tchouaméni in the center of defense instead of Raúl Asencio . The Frenchman has prevailed over the youth player and has already started three games in a row, although he is not playing in his natural position.

"He's not a starter, it's an emergency. When we get everyone back, we'll see where I'll put him. Obviously he's not used to it, but he always does his job," said Carlo Ancelotti .

"Today we came out very well from the back with the ball, looking for solutions between the lines. He helped us a lot in the start," said the coach, who defended the Frenchman's work at all times.
