Another blow for Laporta: first Nico and now this, goodbye to his 'plan B' in attack

Barça keep failing in the market, missing out on another player they wanted

Barcelona once again shows its inability in the transfer market this summer. It's been a long time since they have gone after big names like Haaland, Bellingham, Mbappé, or Wirtz. Meanwhile, young prospects like Endrick or Güler prefer Real Madrid over the Culers.

But this transfer window is receiving blow after blow in a very forceful way. First with Nico Williams, whom they practically considered signed and boasted about having an agreement. However, the reality is that the red-and-white player has decided to renew with Athletic.

Things won't stop there since plan B for Nico in the attack is also turning down Barça. Laporta was rubbing his hands thinking he was going to secure the signing of Luis Díaz as the big star. But the truth is that he's very close to ending up joining another team this summer.

Several Bild journalists confirm that Díaz has already reached a personal agreement with a club. But it's not with Barça; instead, he will most likely go to Bayern. All that's left is for both teams to agree on a price to finalize his transfer this summer.

Barça is no longer able to convince anyone with its project

Even though they won the league and the cup this season, the truth is that Barça doesn't secure big signings. Its project still fails to convince top players, who don't even consider it. Among young prospects, they also haven't had high-profile additions in recent years.

This is the reality for the blaugrana side, which has been dragging economic problems for some time. Little by little, they have redirected the situation, but it still faces setbacks that have an impact. Like the multi-million euro fine they will have to pay UEFA for breaking Financial Fair Play.

In fact, for now, they're also struggling to register players in the league. That means they don't offer any reliability to the players they're trying to sign in the market. This is something they've experienced with Nico Williams and are on track to do the same with Luis Díaz, leaving the Culers stranded.
