Barça Postpones Its Return to Camp Nou for a Year, Latest Lie from Joan Laporta
The Catalans had planned to return to Camp Nou in December, but the construciton has been delayed for several months
It seems that things are not going well for Barcelona. FCBarcelona, which has accumulated a number of disastrous games in LaLiga, is starting to assimilate that they won't be able to play at the Camp Nou for a long time.
Camp Nou's construction was supposed to be ready by December 2024. That is, at this point, Barça would've been supposed to play against CD Leganés or Atlético at their stadium. However, fans and players continue to go up to Montjuic.
A long-term project
For the moment, the 1,800 workers are still working overtime to build the stadium. The latest news is that they have put in the seats in the rows. Next comes the most complicated part: the internal wiring to supply electricity, water and other obligations, which is a really complicated part of the matter.
The workers are working 24 hours a day, as long as they don't make noise. However, it doesn't seem that the process is progressing within the established timeframe. Initially they said that Barça could return in December 2024, then in February 2025 and now it is agreed for September or October.
Initially, the Catalan club had set November 2024 as the date on which they could return to their stadium. Above all, to be able to celebrate the club's 125th anniversary at home. Nothing happened and Barça had to play their match at Montjuic.
How much do Camp Nou works cost?
According to Barcelona itself, the works have a cost of 1.45 billion euros. It should be noted that the Espai Barça doesn't only include Camp Nou, but that the works also include other facilities of the club itself.
The first phase has already been completed, with the demolition of the old Mini Estadi and the construction of the Johan Cruyff, home of the women's team. However, the jewel in the crown is not yet finished and fans are beginning to feel cheated.
Barça fans are getting tired of going up to Montjuic to watch Barça. You can see it at every game Barça plays, as the stadium is rarely full. They are asking for the construction of Camp Nou to be finished on time, but the months keep adding up.
