Confirmed: Real Madrid will part ways with a key team member in 2026
The Real Madrid star who will end up leaving given his current situation at the club
After the signings made, Real Madrid is working on departures. The club needs to make some sales before the end of this transfer window in order to balance its accounts. According to information from the COPE network, one of the departures being considered is David Alaba's after Real Madrid decided not to renew his contract.
Although the Austrian center-back's farewell will be in the summer of 2026, Real Madrid has already made a decision. According to Defensa Central, the club considered the option of terminating Alaba's contract this summer. However, the center-back's determination to stay with the team has complicated a departure that is scheduled for next summer.
The center-back's poor performance is one of the reasons for not renewing his contract. Although he arrived as one of the best center-backs in the world, that's a thing of the past. Currently, David Alaba is no longer the player he once was.
The desired departure of Alaba
Arriving at Real Madrid in 2021, Alaba's impact on the team was immediate. After Sergio Ramos's departure, the Austrian center-back took on the huge gap left by the Spaniard. He fulfilled this task perfectly after the successes he achieved with Real Madrid during his first years.

However, the 23/24 season saw David Alaba's serious injury. Unable to play any matches for 1 year, Alaba was a different player when he returned. Despite his determination, his performance simply wasn't the same.
With constant mistakes and being outperformed by most opponents, Alaba is no longer at his best. Because of this, it's quite difficult for Real Madrid to sell him this summer. Despite his past, few clubs would sign Alaba at present.
The wait for one season
With Huijsen's arrival and the possible signing of Konaté, Alaba has been relegated at the club. Without even having the role of backup center-back, the best thing for him is to leave Real Madrid. A farewell that, despite its bitterness, will be remembered for everything the center-back did for the team.
