Courtois extends contract until 2027, Lunin reacts and warns at Valdebebas: 'I'm going to...'
Compromised situation for the Ukrainian who has stepped up
It hasn't been made official yet, but Real Madrid and Courtois have reportedly reached an agreement for his contract renewal. The Belgian goalkeeper's contract ends in 2026 and he has extended it for one more season, until 2027. This is something Defensa Central has been able to confirm with sources close to the club.
This agreement puts Lunin in a difficult position, as he has seen his future hanging in the air again this summer. He is going to see the Belgian remain at Real Madrid next season. This leaves him with few options to be the starter, based on what we've seen.

However, Lunin didn't take long to react and has made his intentions clear at Valdebebas, according to Defensa Central. "I'm going to give everything I have to get minutes and be at Courtois's level," the Ukrainian has stated. He is mentally prepared to fight and earn his place by competing with Thibaut.
Lunin wants to earn every minute Xabi can give him this season, even though he knows it's not easy. He also wants to aim to become the Belgian's successor. That's why he doesn't plan on any surprises in the final stretch of the transfer window and is preparing to stay at Real Madrid.
Lunin faces an important season for him
Despite the rumors about his future, Lunin made the decision to stay at Real Madrid. At the beginning of last season, he signed his contract renewal, putting an end to all the doubts surrounding him. However, he knows he is facing an important campaign where he must secure his spot, not only in the short term, but beyond that.

Despite his renewal, Courtois is a veteran goalkeeper and Real Madrid are already starting to think about his replacement. If Lunin wants to position himself as the main candidate, he'll have to earn it during this year. The training sessions at Valdebebas and the opportunities he gets in matches will be key.
Especially after a summer in which several names have been mentioned as possible signings for the goalkeeper position. First was Joan García, who was ultimately rejected and ended up signing for Barça. Then Donnarumma, who, if he doesn't move and stays at PSG, could arrive for free in 2026, and they're keeping a close eye on him.
