Fabrizio Romano makes it official: deal closed in Italy, €10M for Madrid

Real Madrid receives 50% of the price that Napoli has paid for its new player

Good news at Real Madrid, which keeps adding money from players who aren't even part of the first team. In this case, the club will receive around 10 million euros after the sale of Miguel Gutiérrez to Napoli. The left-back, who still belonged to the Madrid club, is leaving Girona CF to play for the most recent Serie A champion.

At the beginning of July, Miguel Gutiérrez decided to undergo surgery for discomfort in his right ankle in order to return in top condition. However, the player didn't join the rest of his Girona CF teammates, since his move to Italy was already on track. The footballer has been one of Míchel's key pieces and one of the architects of that historic season for the Girona club, which finished third in the LaLiga standings.

In recent months, other clubs from Italy and France had approached him, but the left-back would have chosen the Italian soccer champion. Napoli's project has managed to captivate Miguel Gutiérrez, who could face Real Madrid in a future Champions League clash.

Miguel Gutiérrez didn't have a place at Real Madrid

Florentino Pérez and Real Madrid accepted Miguel Gutiérrez's move to Napoli without any problem. Even though he was linked several times with a return to Santiago Bernabéu, the club didn't exercise the buy-back option.

The Madrid board decided to bet on the return of Álvaro Carreras to compete with Fran García. That, along with the presence of Ferland Mendy, made it impossible for Miguel Gutiérrez to return to Real Madrid.

This way, Real Madrid has once again shown that it is very successful when it comes to selling its top prospects. This summer, it has done so with several Castilla players, whom it keeps monitoring.Perfect examples are Víctor Muñoz, Chema Andres, or Rafael Obrador.

All of them, just as Miguel Gutiérrez did in his day, have left Real Madrid to earn opportunities at another club. However, it isn't ruled out that one of them could return to the Madrid squad in the future to earn a spot in the first team.
