A former Real Madrid player warns Vinicius, contract renewal on hold: 'It's not the right time'
If he keeps up his standoff, it could end up worse; they have already given him the first serious warning
Vinicius and Real Madrid haven't been able to reach an agreement for his contract renewal so far. Although both parties want him to stay, there's a factor keeping them apart. It's the financial one, since the Brazilian is asking for a salary that Florentino doesn't seem willing to accept.
Real Madrid's president doesn't want to break the salary scale that has worked so well for the club. That's why they believe the figure Vinicius is proposing is unaffordable, and that could have consequences. At least that's what a former Madridist, who's been very clear with the forward, thinks.

We're referring to Rafa Alkorta, who on Cadena Ser has sent a warning to the Carioca. "Vinicius shouldn't put too much pressure on Florentino, we already saw what happened with Sergio Ramos," he recalled. He also wanted to emphasize that "it's not the time to push so hard."
The standoff Vinicius is trying to start could end with him leaving Real Madrid. Maybe not this summer, but in 2026, when he'll have only one year left on his contract. The situation has become complicated, although there's still room to reach an agreement.
Previous cases aren't very good for Vinicius
Alkorta has reminded Vinicius of one of the previous cases, although it's not the only one, and they're not very good. In the case of Sergio Ramos, he demanded Real Madrid renew him for two seasons and increase his salary. But on the table, the proposal was for one season and lowering his wages.

He didn't accept it at first, and when he saw he didn't have many other options, he tried to backtrack. But he found Alaba already signed to take his place and the offer expired. Florentino didn't hesitate, even though he was the team captain and a player with influence in the locker room.
The same thing happened with Cristiano Ronaldo and Özil in the past, who also tried to start a standoff. They all ended up the same way, leaving and seeing how Real Madrid survived without them. Now it's Vinicius who has to decide if he'll stick with his intentions.
