Guardiola signs the Real Madrid and Manchester City swap deal without a second thought

The information about the changes in the first team of both clubs offers common ground

One of the sagas that Real Madrid still has pending for the 2025 summer transfer window stars Rodrygo Goes. The "11" verdeamarelohasn't delivered his best performance during the current soccer season, making doubts about his continuity in the first team very reasonable. Xabi Alonso, however, has decided to address that hesitation head-on.

The Basque coach stated that "we have to talk" with the Osasco forward to clarify his situation. If he doesn't reach an agreement with the new Real Madrid coach, everything suggests that he would leave for another club in the European soccer elite. The favorite, as has been the case for several years, is Manchester City.

"Pep Guardiola and City have always loved Rodrygo," says Eduardo Inda. The director of "OKDiario" recalls that "Madrid has always loved a Madrid-born player named Rodrigo Hernández. There could be a possibility of swapping Rodrygo for Rodrigo", the Spanish journalist concludes.

That swap of footballers would mean that Real Madrid would get the creative defensive midfielder they've needed so much since Toni Kroos's retirement... while the sky blue sports discipline would satisfy one of Pep Guardiola's major tactical demands by adding an elite-level player to their roster of forwards.

possible signing on the horizon?

Everything depends on three factors. The first is, without a doubt, the upcoming conversation between Rodrygo Goes and Xabi Alonso. The outcome of that private talk would determine the continuation of the saga and the possibility of making a footballer swap with Manchester City a reality.

There is also much more at stake than the continuity of two footballers who, at least right now, seem essential in their respective tactical schemes. That's why the boards of Real Madrid and Manchester City would demand very high starting prices, an extremely high amount that the Valdebebas offices are unwilling to pay.

Rodrygo Goes currently wants to keep succeeding at Real Madrid. The entity presided over by Florentino Pérez won't show him the exit door unless the footballer expressly requests it... but they also won't let him leave at any price if that request reaches the Valdebebas offices.

Only for a transfer equal to or greater than €100M (100 millones de euros), could Rodrygo Goes become a new Manchester City player. A similar figure that the English club would demand for the departure of the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner to Santiago Bernabéu locker room. The swap deal is completely stalled, awaiting Rodrygo Goes and Xabi Alonso to define their future in the Spanish capital.
