Guardiola, On the Verge of Tears, Explains City's Situation After the Defeat

The Catalan coach has avoided self-criticism and has linked the team's poor performance to injuries

Guardiola's Manchester City has once again fallen flat on its face in the Champions League. This time it was against Juventus in their visit to Turin. The 'cityzens', one of the clubs candidates to lift the trophy, accumulated 8 points out of a possible 18 and could be eliminated.

Pep Guardiola's men and the Catalan coach himself are facing their worst season. In the last ten games they have accumulated seven defeats and only one victory. Surreal numbers that have never been seen before.

Another defeat in the Champions League

The English lost 2-0 in Turin thanks to goals from Dusan Vlahovic and Weston McKennie.  The situation sparked self-criticism from Illkay Gündogan.  The German midfielder had already left his teammates in the dust several times during his time at Barça and did the same in his new adventure.

"I have the feeling that we are a bit careless sometimes in duels, instead of playing simple. We complicate things too much and miss the right moment to pass or release the ball,"  explained the German player.

Manchester City will have to travel to Paris Saint-Germain in the penultimate round. The Parisians, who are also on the ropes, will try to sentence Pep Guardiola's men. Finally, the ' cityzens ' have their last match against Bruges at the Etihad .

Pep Guardiola's message after the City match

The  Manchester City manager spoke about his team's match against Juventus. He stopped short of self-criticism and preferred to dwell on the injuries.

"Of course he's important (Rodri), but we can't do anything about it. We have other reasons why it's been difficult for us to get results, but the game is there," explained Pep Guardiola to the Movistar microphone.

Pep Guardiola revealed the reasons he had previously mentioned that have prevented City from achieving the expected results.

"When you have four central defenders injured for a period of time, the other midfielder also in the last month, Phil Foden who has had problems..." he explained.

Finally, Pep Guardiola limited himself to saying that "the game is there." The coach doesn't believe that the problem is his, but rather the injuries.
