He Left Real Madrid Through the Back Door and Admits He Has a Thorn in His Side

Statements of a former Real Madrid young player who regrets his departure from the team several years ago

“I would've liked to have at least had the opportunity… to play maybe six, seven games, which I know is difficult.” These were the words of Dani Parejo in a recent interview, showing his regret at having left the Meringue team.

“In the end, playing for Madrid is very difficult, it is very complicated,” added Parejo. Despite his statements, the Villarreal player made it clear that he understands the reason for the lack of opportunities. Transfering the best players in the world in each position on the field caused Parejo to end up leaving in 2009.

Despite having had a successful career full of great moments, Parejo clarified that he was left with the thorn in his side of playing more for Real Madrid. “I would've liked at least to have had the opportunity to see if I could have played for Real Madrid for more years or not.”

Parejo's regret

At 35 years old, Parejo has enjoyed an incredible career in Spanish soccer. Forming in Real Madrid's academy since 2004, the midfielder quickly rose through the ranks until his departure to Getafe, a club where he showed his potential.

Through his words, Parejo made it clear that to this day he regrets not being able to spend more time with the best team in the world. Despite having played 5 games with the first team, these were not enough to keep the Spaniard.

Still, the player doesn't hold any grudge against the Merengue team. Understanding the reason behind his lack of opportunities, Parejo has once again demonstrated his remarkable maturity. Focusing on the last years of his career, the player has only looked back to reveal what was one of his greatest dreams.

Not everyone can play for Real Madrid

The situation with Parejo has shown that not all of the youth players have the level to be part of Real Madrid. With certain exceptions such as Carvajal or Asencio, the Merengue team has always accepted and will only accept the best in the world.
