Huijsen's words after the first red card of his career, deeply hurt: 'I ask...'

The footballer couldn't complete the quarterfinal match against Borussia Dortmund

One of the bad pieces of news recorded by Real Madrid in the match against Borussia Dortmund involves Dean Huijsen. The Spanish center-back has been left out of Xabi Alonso's plans for the semifinals against PSG after one of the most notable actions of the last match.

His sending off means that the young Spanish center-back won't be able to be part of the starting eleven or the substitutions that the Tolosa coach has in mind for the semifinals. The situation is not very positive and the player himself knows it firsthand. His official statement on social media was very direct.

Dean Huijsen, in a brief post on the social network X, stated that it had been a "great match by the whole team today". He also took responsibility for his mistake, made in the last play of the match, which gave away a penalty to Borussia Dortmund and left the score much closer.

"I apologize for having been sent off and not being able to help the team in the next match," wrote the Madridist '24'. That straight red card seen during the quarterfinals against Borussia Dortmund has been the only negative aspect that the player has recorded during the current Club World Cup.

Time for reflection

His performance so far has been unbelievable. The coaching staff led by Xabi Alonso had turned Dean Huijsen into one of Real Madrid's best players, given his proven defensive talent. He was also an essential player at the start of the offensive phase, thanks to his excellent ability with the ball at his feet.

The absence of Dean Huijsen, who reiterates his apology on social media for the sending off against Borussia Dortmund, poses a serious tactical problem for the Madridist coaches. The current defensive scheme seems tailor-made for the participation of the '24' in white, a circumstance that is now impossible.

That's why Xabi Alonso would have decided to give minutes to Raúl Asencio during the second half of Real Madrid-Borussia Dortmund. After his sending off against Pachuca in the opening minutes of the match, the '35' Merengue was absent from the last group stage match and the round of 16.

The coaching staff also believe that Dean Huijsen's sending off is a great opportunity for the young Spanish center-back to learn about what shouldn't be done. It's not the ideal situation, due to the upcoming semifinal against PSG, but Xabi Alonso would already be working to mitigate such a significant setback.
