Josep Pedrerol Has Already Started the Campaign Against Xabi Alonso: 'Forget About It'

The Host of 'El Chiringuito de Jugones' Talks About the Initial Doubts Raised by the Basque Coach

The Real Madrid Board's Favorite to Replace Carlo Ancelotti as the White Team's Coach Is Xabi Alonso. The wear and tear that the Reggiolo coach has suffered since his return, as well as everything that has happened during the current soccer season, would have displaced Ancelotti himself from the local Madrid bench.  The Basque coach is the number one candidate and the one everyone points to.

But His Hypothetical Arrival Raises Dozens of Doubts. Not only regarding the changes he could bring to the team in need of many adjustments, but also due to the timing and manner of his insertion into the sports hierarchy of the squad. Especially considering the information being handled in Germany these days.

Several Prestigious Media Outlets Like BILD or Sky Sports indicate that Real Madrid would have to pay about 15 million euros for Xabi Alonso to coach the white team. The Basque coach's contract, as is the case with Carlo Ancelotti, ends in the summer of 2026. From the noble area of the BayArena, they would demand a price that, according to Josep Pedrerol, would be too high for the Madrid executives.

So much so that he hasn't hesitated to sentence his signing on 'El Chiringuito de Jugones': "forget about Xabi Alonso" being the coach of Real Madrid under those circumstances. "Florentino, fifteen 'kilos' for...?", the presenter asks before continuing to deny the possibility of that expenditure from Santiago Bernabéu's coffers.

Huge Obstacle

According to Josep Pedrerol, Real Madrid wouldn't hire Xabi Alonso if they were forced to pay an amount close to or exceeding 15 million euros. That amount has become one of the most controversial aspects of the possible signing of the former player as the new coach of Real Madrid.

This change between Carlo Ancelotti and Xabi Alonso continues to offer multiple uncertainties, including the manner and timing in which the Basque coach would join the team. One of the contentious points is none other than the transfer that the werkself bosses would demand to make this change, which the first white team would so desperately need, a reality.

While these aspects continue to offer some room for debate, from the Valdebebas offices, they reiterate their support and utmost confidence in Carlo Ancelotti. After all, there are still two titles at stake, LaLiga and the Copa del Rey, except for a Club World Cup for which no coach would be planned. Especially if successes aren't achieved in those two domestic tournaments.

In any case, Josep Pedrerol warns that Real Madrid would have already found a reason not to acquire his services... at least for the summer of 2025. The bosses led by Florentino Pérez wouldn't be willing to pay those 15 million euros and could consider different strategies to circumvent such an exit barrier placed by Leverkusen.
