Konaté's big gesture with Real Madrid comes to light: he will definitely sign
The French center-back's attitude eliminates many concerns at the White club
The main goal of the executives led by Florentino Pérez for the summer 2026 transfer window is Ibrahima Konaté. Signing Liverpool's "5" as a free agent is one of the most talked-about moves in the European elite, due to the resistance of the Red bosses to let it happen.
The French center-back's camp has reportedly received multiple contract extension offers in previous months, including the summer 2025 transfer window, to continue at Anfield Road. Ibrahima Konaté has rejected all those proposals, a message that certainly reached the offices at Valdebebas.

The optimism that Real Madrid have regarding this free agent signing, however, doesn't prevent the Merengue bosses from keeping the caution they always show in every signing. Those alarms and maximum attention to the footballer's moves aren't abandoned even after his latest gesture toward the Spanish capital squad.
According to information published by Nicolò Schira, a journalist in Italy, Ibrahima Konaté has also decided to reject the opportunity to move to Saudi Arabia. Trying to break into a deal that clearly has Madridist overtones, several Saudi Pro League clubs have offered a "high salary" to the French defender.
One step closer
As happened with the attempts to extend his contract with his current club, those offers from Saudi Arabia have failed spectacularly. Real Madrid recognize the will and determination that Konaté is showing to keep his goal: to wear the white jersey when the current season ends in the summer of 2026.
So much so that Nicolò Schira seems to have it clear: "He's believed to be about to sign a contract" with the Merengue club, after successful approaches from Madrid. In addition to strengthening that bond between the French defender and Real Madrid, the Italian journalist provides a very important detail: Konaté would be a Merengue player until the summer of 2031.

This timeframe shows that the Blancos executives have considered the Red "5" as a long-term signing. While Ibrahima Konaté is a market opportunity in every sense, given his performance at Liverpool, he expects to occupy a privileged place in Santiago Bernabéu locker room.
The sporting planning for the coming seasons won't hesitate to grant it to him. Especially considering the departures of Austrian David Alaba and the recently injured Antonio Rüdiger, who also finish their contracts with Real Madrid in the middle of next year.
