The detail that's missing for Ceballos to become an OM player

The departure of the Andalusian midfielder could become effective in the coming days

One of the latest surprises that could come from Real Madrid in the 2025 summer transfer market features Dani Ceballos. The "19" of the white squad had tried to leave Santiago Bernabéu locker room during the past two summers without much success: Real Betis, his main target, hasn't shown interest.

That's why, although it has come almost at the last minute, the option of Olympique de Marseille has appeared. The information that has developed over the past 24 hours suggests that the midfielder from Seville would leave Real Madrid on a loan with a purchase option. The total agreement is close to being sealed, but there are still some prerogatives to solve before it becomes official.

According to journalist Matteo Moretto, the personal terms proposed by the French team seem to fit the demands that Dani Ceballos's camp is handling for this scenario. The same wouldn't happen in the negotiations between Olympique de Marseille and Real Madrid, given that the agreement between both clubs still hasn't become a reality.

Dani Ceballos, Matteo Moretto points out, has given the "yes" to his departure toward Olympique de Marseille. The most complicated part of the negotiation would now begin: convincing the Madrid sports management to accept the terms proposed from the upper echelons of the Orange Vélodrome.

Still on hold

As has happened with other players in other seasons, the white leadership doesn't seem very willing to block Dani Ceballos's departure. After all, the "19" Madridist has made it clear, through his activity on social media, that his desire isn't to continue wearing the white jersey from this very summer.

Given this, the bosses led by Florentino Pérez would feel inclined to accept the deal proposed by Olympique de Marseille... as long as it fits with the demands set from the Valdebebas offices. After all, that philosophy when negotiating is kept for all footballers: the case of Rodrygo is the best possible example.

That's why the agreement between the white board of directors and the Olympique de Marseille executives is the loose end remaining to make this team change official. Dani Ceballos is waiting to complete an operation that has come as a surprise in the 2025 summer market, due to the Sevillian's fixation with Real Betis.

Although he would head to Ligue 1 and not to the capital of Andalusia as he wanted, Dani Ceballos would achieve a departure from Real Madrid. Xabi Alonso has made it clear that he counts on all his players, as he has shown by giving Ceballos minutes from the bench, but that role wouldn't be enough for the Utrera native. That's why he has requested to enable a farewell that is getting closer and closer.
