Manu Carreño Explodes Against Munuera Montero After the Scandal: 'what Does It Matter...?'

Points out the referee's big problem even though he hasn't done anything illegal

In recent days, referees have been in the spotlight due to controversial performances. The serious mistakes against Real Madrid have crossed our borders. But the worst seemed yet to come with Munuera Montero and what has been revealed.

He was the one who officiated the Osasuna – Real Madrid match, with 3 possible penalties not called, one penalty given, and a red card. All his decisions leave many doubts and always fell on the same side. Additionally, after the match, it was revealed that his company might have teams as clients.

This violates the RFEF's code of ethics, and if proven true, it could be a major problem. But even if he hasn't done it, the image of refereeing is once again tarnished. This is how Manu Carreño sees it, who has been very critical of the referee because of his company.

"What do I care if he has billed or hasn't billed? There are many ways to bill in life," he reflected. The journalist believes that "he has been very clumsy and shouldn't do it." "Either you're in refereeing or you're an entrepreneur and advise the League, UEFA, the Federation, and whoever you want," he added.

The Big Problem with Munuera Montero Even If There Are No Legal Consequences

Munuera Montero published a statement in which he excused himself for never having received payment from any team. But that can also be a big problem, as Manu Carreño pointed out. "If you are an active referee, even if you haven't billed anyone, deep down you're maintaining professional relationships," he noted.

In fact, he believes there is a question the referee hasn't answered, which is crucial. "Has any club requested advisory services from Munuera Montero's company and then had him officiate on Sunday?" he questioned. And if the answer is affirmative, it would be very controversial.

"Believing in the cleanliness of refereeing, in the honesty of referees when you're involved in both sides, is not possible. It's a conflict of interest, it's an ethical issue, even if legally he hasn't committed any crime," he concluded. We'll see if the RFEF takes action, even if it's not illegal.
