Marco Asensio: about to return to LaLiga as Real Madrid's enemy
The Balearic footballer has several transfer offers to leave PSG this summer
One of the most prominent names in the transfer market on the national scene is Marco Asensio. The former Real Madrid footballer left the Spanish capital club behind after failing to reach an agreement with the white club for his contract renewal. His departure at the end of the 22/23 season enabled the change of cycle in the Merengue attack, giving Rodrygo Goes a more prominent role.
After that exit as a free agent from Santiago Bernabéu locker room, the Mallorcan forward soon found himself at the Parc des Princes. His first matches as a footballer for the rouge-et-bleu squad, under Luis Enrique's orders, produced excellent results. A serious injury during the early stages of the 23/24 season suddenly halted all that progress.

Since then, the Balearic footballer hasn't been able to reintegrate into a group whose sporting dynamics would already be firmly established. The most recent example of that trend is his half-season loan to Aston Villa. In the Premier League, he accumulated good minutes, but not enough to regain all the status he had when he left Real Madrid.
Luis Enrique understands that Marco Asensio now occupies a marginal place in his tactical plans for the next season. In that regard, from the Poissy offices, they're working to find a new team for the Spanish striker. They may have found one in LaLiga, given the offer that recently arrived in Paris.
It could be his escape route
Villarreal would have contacted PSG to explore the terms of signing Marco Asensio. The former Madrid player would be willing to leave behind the Parisian sporting discipline, where he hasn't been able to establish himself as a world-class player.
His return to LaLiga would be the opportunity he has long sought to recover all the minutes he didn't accumulate during his two seasons as a player for the French capital squad. Villarreal's approach brings a certain optimism to Marco Asensio's camp, more than willing to return to Spain to continue his football career.

If he accepts that transfer proposal sent from the upper echelons of Estadio de la Cerámica, the former "11" Merengue would return to face Xabi Alonso's team. LaLiga matches, as well as potential clashes in Copa del Rey or other competitions, would be filled with many nuances.
It's also yet to be seen what kind of reception Santiago Bernabéu would give the player. Marco Asensio's time at Real Madrid is full of highs and lows: white fans must decide which memories are more important when welcoming the former white forward.
