Marseille: close to signing a Barça player after Ceballos's rejection

The French squad intends to secure the services of this Barça midfielder

Real Madrid has experienced some turmoil during the last week of this summer's transfer window. Although the executives led by Florentino Pérez had no pending signings, contrary to Xabi Alonso's wishes, the possibility of confirming a departure was very real.

The departure of Dani Ceballos to Olympique de Marseille, after the "19" made multiple gestures to try to involve Real Betis in his future, has been canceled. As things stand, the Merengue leadership understands that the squad is now completely finalized. The same idea, judging by Xabi Alonso's words, is shared by the coaching staff.

The resounding failure in the signing of Dani Ceballos has left a bad impression in the upper echelons of the Orange Vélodrome. That's why Olympique de Marseille is determined to keep searching in this same summer's transfer market, almost against the clock, for Adrien Rabiot's replacement.

This French midfielder is practically out of the French sports discipline due to several disagreements, both competitive and personal, so they keep scouting players with a similar profile. The next on the list after Dani Ceballos is a young talent from FC Barcelona.

They want another one like him

The information published by Ekrem Konur reveals that Marc Casadó is in Olympique de Marseille's sights. The footballer trained at La Masia was one of those promoted by Hansi Flick to the first team during the past season, having many more minutes than initially desired.

His good performance under the German coach's orders would have earned him the attention of several clubs in the European football elite, among which is the Marseille squad. The Turkish journalist points out that Olympique isn't the only one seeking the Spanish midfielder's football services.

In fact, interest in Marc Casadó also comes from the Premier League: West Ham United, still searching for Declan Rice's successor, is its competition. Ekrem Konur recalls that the executives led by Joan Laporta are open to hearing offers for the footballer, who has lost his role in the reconfiguration of the blaugrana midfield.

The complicated economic situation that the entity from the Ciudad Condal is going through sets the tone for the operation: "they're ready to sell if a good offer comes in," says Ekrem Konur. The blaugrana midfielder has a contract until 2028 and a market value of €30 million, so an acceptable transfer could well be in that range.
