The Money UEFA Will Pay Real Madrid for being in the Champions League Play-off

The amount Real Madrid will receive for qualifying for the next phase of the Champions comes to light

With the group stage of the Champions League already concluded, UEFA has officially announced the distribution of funds it grants to clubs. The amount varies according to the results obtained in the first qualifying phase.

Although Spanish teams have achieved good results, the economic difference between the country's three major clubs is surprising. Real Madrid, unlike Barça or Atlético de Madrid, will not receive such a high amount due to its classification.

How much money does Real Madrid receive for advancing to the next round?

In Tiempo de Juego, Miguel Aguilar detailed the amounts that Spanish teams have received so far. According to the journalist, FC Barcelona is the club that has caused the most revenue in this phase of the competition, totaling 44.9 millions.

Meanwhile, Atlético de Madrid, which ranked fifth, receives 44.2 million euros from UEFA for its results. Girona CF, which will not play the next round, receives a total of 20 million euros. According to the journalist in question, the Catalan club would have earned 3 million euros less in the previous format.

Meanwhile, Real Madrid will earn 30 million euros for its sports results in the eight matches. The team of Carlo Ancelotti ranked eleventh but will have to play a preliminary phase.

Real Madrid could get closer to Barça or Atlético de Madrid

The disparity with respect to the other two major Spanish clubs is evident, especially considering the international projection of Real Madrid.

However, there is a small glimmer of hope for Madridists. If Real Madrid surpasses the play-off, the club would receive an additional 12 million, bringing it closer to the 42 million euros.

To do so, Madrid will have to defeat City or Celtic of Glasgow, the two clubs that could be drawn in the round of sixteen. The Madrid club will know its opponent next Friday starting at 12:00 PM. From there, the reigning champions could also face Atlético de Madrid or Bayer Leverkusen in the round of sixteen.
