Real Madrid's official stance on Miguel Gutiérrez: His future has taken a dramatic turn
Several European clubs are interested in the footballer, and Real Madrid still owns his rights
Real Madrid continues to show that its commitment to the youth academy not only yields results on the sporting front, but also on the financial side. Currently, the club is keeping a close eye on negotiations that could complete the transfer of Miguel Gutiérrez. The left-back, developed at Valdebebas, could bring in about €17 million ($17 million) to Madrid's coffers if his departure from Montilivi is finalized this summer.
Miguel Gutiérrez has been one of the great revelations for Girona in recent seasons, which has attracted the interest of several European clubs. Napoli—recent Serie A champion—stands out as one of the most prominent, although they haven't made a formal offer yet. The left-back has multiple offers abroad, and his future clearly points outside Spain.
For now, his return to Real Madrid seems very complicated, since the club hasn't considered him for next season. Miguel Gutiérrez wants to take another step in his footballing career, but he knows it won't be at Bernabéu.

Real Madrid, "waiting" for Miguel Gutiérrez
Real Madrid transferred Miguel Gutiérrez to Girona in 2022 for a sum of €5 million ($5 million). At that time, Florentino Pérez wanted to keep 50% of the rights over a future sale. After two great seasons, the footballer could leave the Catalan club for a significant sum of money, something that draws the attention of the Madrid side.
Meanwhile, the club had the option to buy back the youth product for just €8 million ($8 million) last summer. However, Real Madrid decided to let the opportunity pass, something that was heavily criticized at the time due to the lack of available players in the defensive line. Now, the release clause is set at €35 million ($35 million).

This means that, if a sale of the player is finalized, Real Madrid would receive half of the total transfer amount. We're talking about €17.5 million ($17.5 million). This is a very attractive amount for a footballer who, as such, doesn't play in the first team.
This formula is common in negotiations involving players developed in Madrid's youth academy. Real Madrid keeps earning money from footballers who develop at other clubs and don't take up space in the squad.
