Ramón de Mon Warns about Real Madrid's Bench and Carlo Ancelotti's Future

The journalist and member advances a possible outcome for the 'coach case' of recent days

One of the most important and striking debates regarding Real Madrid that has persisted for two weeks is Ancelotti's continuity on the bench. The information published by Onda Cero suggested that he decided to leave the club at the end of the season, something the Italian personally denied.

However, those words during the press conference before the game against RB Salzburg haven't served to reduce the discussions about the future of the position he currently holds. Ramón Álvarez de Mon understands and recalls that "decision-making is very difficult at a time when things are so hanging in the air". Because it could be "a great season or a disastrous season" for Madrid.

"I would already make the decision to finalize Xabi Alonso's arrival at Madrid and end Ancelotti's tenure at the end of this season", he confides. Following the information released by Onda Cero, Ramón is very clear: "I'm not aware that Ancelotti has taken any initiative regarding leaving Real Madrid". Despite everything, the Reggiolo coach "senses that this will be his last season" at the club because the Madrid entity "has a plan with Xabi".

Those arrangements made by the Madrid executives position the Basque coach "as the next coach. And it is expected to be finalized for the next season". Thus, in the Valdebebas offices, they would already be considering the former Madrid player as the successor to Carlo Ancelotti in six months.

Vital information

The "fluid, usual" relationship between Xabi Alonso and Florentino Pérez, reveals Ramón Álvarez de Mon, allows for close contact between both parties of this signing. "Madrid had requested that, if there were drastic changes in his career, he should inform them to be aware." And not proceed to attempt his incorporation as a replacement for Ancelotti.

Ramón recalls that the Basque coach "made a decision that surprised many": he stayed at Bayer Leverkusen, renewing until mid-2026 with the German entity. But "he renewed leaving open the possibility of moving to Real Madrid", aware that "the Real Madrid window could open in the summer of 2025".

In addition to this observation, the communicator and member of the board concludes the 'case': "nothing is signed. What is not signed always requires a bit of caution, but Madrid's project is heading in that direction and Ancelotti is aware. Ancelotti is not being deceived by Real Madrid" regarding his future at the helm of Santiago Bernabéu's home bench.

Ramón de Mon poses one last question: what will Ancelotti do if he leaves in 2025. "There are three alternatives", the journalist comments, regarding Ancelotti's future. "The first is to retire, there is the alternative of remaining linked to Real Madrid, and the third is to coach in Arabia". Only the last one would have, according to Ramón de Mon, the highest likelihood of occurring in the future.
