Real Madrid continues with their announcements of players who are finally new signings for next season. The next one on the list is surprising since weeks ago it seemed impossible. However, it is now confirmed that Franco Mastantuono is a new Merengue player.

The young 17-year-old Argentine midfielder signs for 6 seasons, remaining linked until 2031. He does so after Real Madrid has agreed to pay €45 million. This was his release clause, although they'll do it in several installment payments over time.

This young River Plate talent had been attracting attention, despite his age, for quite some time. In fact, in the last season he has become a key piece for his team. Marcelo Gallardo, his coach, has known how to get a lot of performance out of him by placing him on the right wing.

He's a winger who stands out for his ability to read the game and to channel it with the ball at his feet. That's why he can also play as a midfielder, something he has already done in youth categories. In fact, he usually moves toward the center to have more room to maneuver.

A signing that has been forged in recent weeks after a betrayal

Real Madrid already explored signing Franco Mastantuono last summer, when Solari and Calafat spoke with him. They traveled to Argentina and his agents promised he wouldn't renew his contract. However, they took advantage of the Merengue interest to get a better deal with River and raise his release clause.

That betrayal made Real Madrid rule out his signing, although Juni Calafat hasn't lost track of him. He has been watching his progress at River, becoming the big star, and he's a promising footballer. PSG also saw this and put his possible arrival at the White team in danger.

However, Mastantuono has always wanted to prioritize the offer from Real Madrid over any other. Until it has now been confirmed and his signing for the Merengue team has become official. With the statement already posted on the club's website, Xabi Alonso adds another player for next season.
