Raúl is leaving Real Madrid, leaving a 'Gift' of €20M for Florentino Pérez

Raúl González Blanco's outstanding work has brought great benefits to Real Madrid even after his departure

One of the saddest farewells from Real Madrid last season was Raúl González's. Castilla's coach decided to leave the club in search of better opportunities and to progress in his career. However, as we know at Defensa Central, his great work in the youth academy has caused revenues of almost €20 million.

This is due to the multiple departures of youth academy players that Real Madrid has had during this summer transfer window. Out of 14 farewells, 6 of them have been through transfers while the remaining 8 left at the end of their contracts. It is with the first 6 that Real Madrid has received more than significant revenues.

The most important sale was Rafael Obrador's, who left for Benfica for €5 million. The farewell with the lowest value was Marvel's to Leganés for €800,000. Sales that, of course, are a great help for Real Madrid.

The fruits of Raúl's work

During the 6 seasons he was Castilla's coach, Raúl was responsible for developing several talented young players. As a Real Madrid legend, Raúl managed to teach several qualities typical of a Madridist footballer. From ball skills to the values instilled by the club, Raúl was an exceptional coach for Castilla.

The nearly €20 million that Real Madrid has managed to obtain are proof of this. Raúl was responsible for developing players who are the great desire of several European clubs. In addition to the aforementioned sales, these weren't the only ones from Castilla.

Jacobo Ramón left for Como in Serie A for €2.5 million. Yusi went to Alavés for €3 million while Chema Andrés did the same with Stuttgart for the same amount. Finally, Víctor Muñoz left for Osasuna for €5 million.

The quality of the youth academy

These great revenues show once again the importance of the youth academy for Real Madrid. Along with the development of great talents, their high level gives them significant value in case they leave. Although the youth academy has had many farewells, the first team still hasn't had much movement.
