Real Madrid has been warned: Konaté is flooded with offers, the deal is getting complicated

The white bosses already have competition for the French center-back

One of the main targets for the Whites in the upcoming summer transfer windows is Ibrahima Konaté. The Liverpool center-back, who is 26 years old, has become an established defender in the Premier League... and his contract ends in a year, a circumstance that has attracted Real Madrid, considering his potential signing.

So far, only the Whites had emerged as the main candidate to secure his services, but as time has passed, it has become clear that other teams are also monitoring his situation. The information revealed by the English podcast "CaughtOffside" points to Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona as Real Madrid's main rivals in this potential signing.

The emergence of the Bavarian squad, as well as the main rival of the Merengues in domestic competitions, is a change in the pursuit of Ibrahima Konaté. Now, the pressure to secure the player's signature doesn't come only from Liverpool, which reportedly decided to implement a striking deterrent measure for the current transfer window.

The Red executives, anticipating an attempt to sign him in the final weeks of the current summer window, have set a price of €50 million ($54.4 million) for the center-back. Real Madrid, as well as the new teams interested in signing the French footballer, believe this price is very high... considering that his contract ends in just one season.

Face to face

Although this is a figure in line with his market value, since Konaté is currently worth about €60 million ($65.3 million), no candidate is prepared to make that outlay. That's why the signing of the "Red" number 5 is inevitably shifting toward a free agent deal, an area where Real Madrid faces serious competition.

Especially from Bayern Munich, a squad at the top of European soccer that can offer a much more attractive contract from a financial standpoint. This isn't a lesson that can simply be inferred from the Valdebebas offices, since something similar happened with another free agent signing that fell through not long ago.

The executives led by Florentino Pérez aimed to secure the services of Alphonso Davies last summer as part of their plan to completely renew the defensive line. The possibility of signing the Canadian number 19 on a free transfer fell through due to differences in the salary offered by the Whites and by Bayern Munich.

Real Madrid knows that from the Säbener Straße offices, they'll mobilize whatever resources are necessary to sign Ibrahima Konaté. This is especially true if Kim Min-jae, one of the Bavarian club's center-backs, leaves, as his continuity in the Allianz Arena locker room has become much more complicated lately.
