Raúl's reproach to Florentino after leaving Real Madrid Castilla

The reason Raúl González Blanco had a heated argument with Florentino Pérez

Looking ahead to next season, Real Madrid has planned several departures from its squad. With some already confirmed, such as Luka Modric's, others are in the process of being finalized in the coming weeks. However, the departure of Raúl González Blanco, an absolute legend of Real Madrid, from Castilla has been quite a surprise.

The coach had been responsible for training new generations of Real Madrid talents for several years. With the clear desire to one day coach the first team, Raúl rejected several offers to leave Real Madrid.  A decision he has shown deep regret for upon learning that he was never considered by Florentino.

With Xabi Alonso being chosen to coach Real Madrid, Raúl reproached Florentino Pérez for this decision. Leaving through the back door, Raúl ended up clearly upset by a decision that was analyzed for months and where Xabi is the best option.

Complaints to Florentino Pérez

Raúl González Blanco is one of the great legends of Real Madrid for his time as a player. Trained in the youth academy, Raúl excelled with the first team from 1994 until 2010, when he left for Schalke. Achieving 322 goals in 741 matches played, Raúl remained linked to Real Madrid after his retirement in 2015.

Coaching in the youth academy, Raúl started with the Youth Soccer in 2018 until eventually moving up to Castilla in 2019. Achieving great feats in Castilla, Raúl showed qualities that were of interest to several clubs that sought to sign him as a coach.

However, Raúl remained completely committed to a Real Madrid from which he will soon depart. Despite his annoyance with Florentino, Raúl doesn't have the experience of a Xabi who has shown talent to be a legendary coach.

Raúl's second farewell

Even though leaving Real Madrid was not in his plans, this is the best for Raúl and his coaching career. Needing to prove himself outside of Valdebebas, Raúl has the opportunity to grow as a coach and show his potential to Real Madrid.
