The Sanction that Will Fall on Bellingham and Lucas Vázquez After Being Sent Off Against Barça

In addition to Antonio Rüdiger, the referee sent off two more Real Madrid players

After the final whistle that confirmed the blaugrana's victory in the Copa del Rey final, some Real Madrid players ended up being sent off. Specifically, Antonio Rüdiger, Lucas Vázquez, and Bellingham received direct red cards from De Burgos Bengoetxea.

The Basque referee noted in the report that he sent off Antonio Rüdiger for "throwing an object from the technical area without hitting me." He also added that the German center-back "had to be restrained by several members of the coaching staff due to his aggressive attitude." It all stemmed from an incident where Mbappé gave a slight slap to Eric García that was called as a foul.

Meanwhile, the German footballer apologized on Sunday morning through his social media. "There is no justification for my behavior last night. I sincerely apologize and also to the referee," explained Antonio Rüdiger on his Instagram.

What Happened with Lucas and Bellingham?

A few seconds after Rüdiger's expulsion, Lucas Vázquez was also given a direct red card. Like the German center-back, the full-back had been previously substituted by Carlo Ancelotti. According to the referee's report, he was sent off for "protesting one of our decisions, invading several meters of the field and making gestures of disagreement."

There was one last player sent off from Real Madrid who went unnoticed during the broadcast, as he received the red card once the match was over. It was Jude Bellingham, who received his second direct expulsion as a white player. The Englishman was sent off for "approaching our position in an aggressive manner after the match ended, having to be restrained by his teammates."

With these three expulsions, Rüdiger, Lucas Vázquez, and Bellingham have set a new record at Real Madrid. The club reached the highest number of direct red cards received by its players in a single match.

What Will Be the Sanctions for Both?

It is not official yet, but it is most likely that both Lucas Vázquez and Jude Bellingham will receive two-match suspensions. Both will serve this punishment next season in the first rounds of the Copa del Rey.

Therefore, Real Madrid will not be able to count on Jude Bellingham for the first two matches of the next Copa del Rey. Meanwhile, the case of Lucas Vázquez is more complex, as this could be his last season in white. If the player decides to continue playing in Spain, he will serve the suspension with another team.
