Serious warning from Xabi Alonso to Lamine Yamal, the Tolosa native gets serious: 'Our turn will come...'

The Tolosa manager shared his thoughts one day before facing Osasuna

Real Madrid faces Osasuna in its league debut in just over 24 hours, a match that generates a great deal of expectation given the situation of the white team. Xabi Alonso's players, who is starting his first full season in charge of Santiago Bernabéu locker room, hasn't avoided current questions.

One of the most striking has revolved around Lamine Yamal. The FC Barcelona footballer has started this season in a similar way to how he finished the previous one, scoring goals and being decisive for his team. Far from embellishing those achievements, Real Madrid's coach has focused on what really matters.

Xabi Alonso makes it clear that "he is an important player" both for his club and for the Spanish national team, a comment that reveals his opinion on this striking matter. It isn't up to him to judge the quality of footballers who aren't under his command. He only says what he sees, pointing out that he will be able to give his opinion more when the time comes for the first Clásico of the 25/26 season.

"We'll have to face him sooner or later", replied the Tolosa coach to the question asked by Edu Aguirre, journalist from "El Chiringuito de Jugones". The Madrid coach is very focused on centering the issue on his team's performance. After all, the excitement of Madridists, as well as the expectation of the rest of European soccer, is at its peak: everyone knows what the Basque coach is capable of.

He isn't focused on others

The answer given by Xabi Alonso to the question raised about Lamine Yamal is a whole statement of intent. Not only for avoiding giving his opinion about rival players, a move that could leave him in a bad place over time. Also because it shows that the white coach has only one goal: to get back on the winning track.

The executives led by Florentino Pérez chose him precisely to, with that goal in mind, completely renew Santiago Bernabéu locker room. The application of new tactics and ways of understanding soccer not only extends to the technical and tactical aspect that has been seen these weeks at the Ciudad Deportiva. It also extends to the rivalry with, for example, FC Barcelona.

Although Real Madrid is under great pressure to reverse the bad trend of the Clásicos from last season, in which it didn't achieve any victory, there are no doubts. The most important match is the one closest on the calendar, and the players to watch are those about to face each other on the field.

That's why Xabi Alonso has redirected, throughout the press conference, most of the questions to his own ground: the preparation for Real Madrid-Osasuna. The Tolosa coach has a huge responsibility when it comes to choosing his first starting eleven of the season, a line-up that will be revealed tomorrow before the clash at the Santiago Bernabéu.
