Simeone willing to pay €30M to Florentino to sign a LaLiga star
The coach wants a winger with verticality and goal-scoring ability, with Kubo being the chosen one, and his signing is valued at €60 million
Atlético de Madrid keeps scanning the market. Diego Simeone wants to secure a reinforcement for the right wing, the only area where he doesn't have two reliable players. The target has a first and last name: Takefusa Kubo.
The Japanese international plays for Real Sociedad and his future is uncertain. This summer, he changed his representation agency, a move that in many cases signals a team change. At Metropolitano, they see the opportunity.
Operation with profit for Real Madrid
Kubo has a release clause of €60 million. If Atlético pays it, half of that amount—€30 million—would go directly to Real Madrid, which keeps 50% of his rights. A detail that doesn't go unnoticed: Florentino Pérez would receive a significant sum thanks to a signing by its eternal Madrid rival.

According to Marca, Kubo's arrival depends on a departure. Conor Gallagher and Nahuel Molina are the main candidates to leave the club. The Premier League and Serie A are closely following their situation.
As long as there are no moves, negotiations won't begin. Simeone is clear about it: he doesn't want an overloaded squad, but he also doesn't want to be left without options on the right flank.
Kubo isn't the only one on the list. Atlético keeps talks open with Juventus for a possible swap deal that would include Nahuel Molina and Nico González. Kang-in Lee, formerly of Valencia and now at PSG, is also being considered. However, the high price of the South Korean makes him the third option.

For now, none of these reinforcements will be able to debut at the start of the league. Atlético visits Espanyol at the RCD Stadium next August 17. If there are no updates, Giuliano Simeone will continue to occupy the right wing.
Simeone's plan
The Argentine coach is looking for a fast, unbalancing player with a goal-scoring touch. Kubo fits that profile. His experience in LaLiga and his ability to link up with the rest of the attack make him the number one priority.
The outcome will depend on whether Atlético dares to activate the clause and pay those €60 million ($65.3 million), which, in turn, would make Real Madrid's coffers richer.
