Surprise in Oviedo's starting line-up, Vinicius set for the bench
Vinicius could be a substitute in a very surprising decision by Xabi Alonso
Xabi Alonso hasn't had much time to prepare for the second matchday of La Liga against Oviedo either. They played on Tuesday at Bernabéu, and this Sunday they'll have to be in Asturias. In between, there have been some sessions to recover and to make important decisions.
Among them is what to do with Vinicius, one of those singled out after the first match because of his performance. The Brazilian had a good collective effort, in recovering the ball and pressing after losing possession. However, he wasn't decisive in attack and didn't create any dangerous opportunities on the opponent's goal.

That's why many have started to reconsider whether Xabi Alonso should take action with him. That would mean leaving Vinicius on the bench to give a chance to a surprising player, Rodrygo. His good minutes in the friendly against Tirol seem to have supported him.
In fact, this season is going to bring a significant change, since he doesn't want to continue as a right winger. That's what he reportedly told Xabi Alonso in the conversations they've had. This information was first reported by Rodra and has been confirmed by Defensa Central.
Although it seems unlikely that Vinicius will go to the bench, at least in this second matchday. If it's confirmed that Rodrygo will be the left winger, the one affected is the former.
Xabi Alonso's problems against Oviedo in matchday 2
Real Madrid are still in preseason despite having to play official matches. Tebas didn't let the Madridists have more than two weeks of preparation after the Club World Cup. This decision isn't an isolated event since it has happened again with the second matchday.

As we've said, the Whites played last Tuesday against Osasuna and will do so again this Sunday. There are only a few days in between to prepare for the match and keep gaining rhythm. However, this contrasts with the time their opponent has had, who will arrive better prepared and more rested.
Tebas decided to schedule the Asturians' league debut as soon as possible, on Friday. They could have played against Villarreal on Saturday or Sunday, but he wanted to move it forward. So Oviedo will arrive at this Sunday's match with 4 more days of rest than Real Madrid (4 days), a considerable advantage.
