Tchouaméni's Reply about His Future at Real Madrid, Hunted by Edu Aguirre

The French player's words are very revealing about his current situation

One of the players who's currently the focus of many debates in Real Madrid is Aurélien Tchouaméni. The French '14' has returned to the starting eleven after his injury, but he has done so in the center of defense. Although it's true that this has caused Raúl Asencio to return to the bench, Carlo Ancelotti seems to be happy with the results achieved by this technical assessment.

Especially considering that the French stopper is, precisely, a pivot. His recent versatility as a central defender, an idea that the midfielder doesn't like, has been quite useful for the Meringue sports discipline in the last two seasons.

It has also allowed him to breifly escape the debates about his sale and his modest performance in the 2024/25 season. Tchouaméni's future remains in doubt after what has happened in the last four months, but it doesn't seem that the French midfielder's intention is to leave this summer.

Real Madrid believes that Tchouaméni has a place in their current and sporting project's future, both as central defender and midfielder. After winning the Intercontinental Cup in Doha, he made it clear that "we are very happy": he has already won eight major titlesin just three seasons with the white jersey.

Saving versatility

Edu Aguirre was able to interview him in the mixed zone and recalled Ancelotti's words: "you make a good effort as a center-back when you aren't a center-back."Tchouaméni acknowledged that "no, I'm not a center-back". But his answer to the question is surprising.

Although it seemed like a complaint when it was formulated, the French '14' remembers that "I try to do everything and give everything for the team, it doesn't matter if I play in one position or another." Tchouaméni understands that "the most important thing is to give everything" for his teammates and the club that bet on him.

These words from the French midfielder, who has been much discussed for some time now, have given rise to a new debate between fans and the coaching staff. Because the shortage of personnel in the center of defense has been solved, although only temporarily, by his placement in that area of the field.

What seemed like a temporary arrangement could well be a definitive remedy for his situation at Real Madrid. Because the performance he offers as a center-back, comparatively, awakens better feelings than his recent performances at the base of the Madrid scheme... thus guaranteeing his continuity at the white club.
