The bonuses Real Madrid's players have received for the World Cup semifinals

The board of directors has distributed a striking amount of money for the performance in that tournament

One of the most important competitions that Real Madrid had marked on its calendar at the start of the 24/25 season was the FIFA Club World Cup. The International Federation aims to compete with UEFA through a tournament that offers multi-million euro profits to clubs... and by extension, to the participating footballers.

Especially through the bonus system that many clubs have establishedfor their own footballers. Real Madrid is no exception in that regard, as becomes evident every time the team adds another trophy to the ever-growing trophy cabinet at Santiago Bernabéu.

Something similar would have happened with this competition held in the United States. Real Madrid reached the semifinals, spurred on by renewed spirits since Xabi Alonso's arrival. However, not even the best plans of the Tolosa coach could contain the poor performance both individually and collectively during the most critical stretches of the match.

That would explain the lopsided final score that ended up eliminating the white squad from the American tournament. Despite the heavy defeat suffered against Luis Enrique's players, the Valdebebas offices paid their footballers the agreed bonuses before departing for the tournament.

Everything clarified

According to the information published by the newspaper MARCA, the top executives led by Florentino Pérez set a bonus of €50,000 for each player for advancing past the group stage. To that amount, the €80,000 earned for getting past the round of 16 is added, granting access to the final knockout rounds of the tournament.

The last bonus received by Real Madrid's players, before their definitive elimination against the rouge-et-bleu squad, is €150,000. That amount corresponds to the prize for reaching the semifinals. In total, Xabi Alonso's players received €280,000 each.

It is clear that the final amount would have been higher if they had overcome the Parisian resistance in the semifinals... if they had achieved victory against Chelsea in the final on July 13. In any case, these bonuses are a more than acceptable recognition for a performance that exceeded expectations: the white executives thought that they would only reach the quarterfinals.

Participation in the Club World Cup has left its mark on Real Madrid. Not only economically, considering the more than €80 million (more than $86.6 million) that Santiago Bernabéu's coffers had received in prize money. Also on the sporting side, since the conclusions drawn in the United States help Xabi Alonso shape the future first team.
