They publish the VAR audio from Güler's disallowed goal and it's insane: 'Disallow it'
The analysis of the play during the match has caught the attention of more than one Madridist
One of the most significant pointsfor analysis in the Real Madrid-Real Mallorca match is the refereeing controversies. Xabi Alonso's players scored five goals during the visit of the Bermellón team to Santiago Bernabéu, but only two were ultimately allowed on the scoreboard. The last disallowed goal was by Arda Güler, due to a handball committed just before breaking through the Balearic goal.
Sánchez Martínez's decision was not well received by the fans gathered at Santiago Bernabéu. Especially after a VAR review that lasted several minutes: the referee, after speaking with Pulido Santana, had to personally review the play. This was the call from the VAR referee to his colleague: "I recommend a review so you can assess a potential handball to be able to disallow the goal".

"The first thing I want to see is the position of the hand", stated the main field referee as soon as he arrived at the monitor. With one of the shots already on the screen, Pulido Santana replied to his colleague: "In my opinion, the handball exists and in my opinion, there is a certain immediacy in the play". Nevertheless, the VAR referee also let the play by Arda Güler continue "so you can also assess the immediacy of the play".
Pulido Santana indicated that "I have two images where the handball and also the immediacy are clear" regarding the infraction that would allow the goal scored by the Turkish number 15 to be disallowed. Despite the insistence of the VAR referee on that "handball," Sánchez Martínez requested to "see the handball in short clips. And freeze it for me" in order to study the footage and make a decision.
Never had doubts
After Pulido Santana managed to show the correct images to Sánchez Martínez, the field referee indicated that he wanted it completely frozen "at the point of contact". After reviewing the images that were in sweep mode, the referee of the Real Madrid-Real Mallorca match did not seem to have any doubts.
The cameras located behind the goal defended by Jagoba Arrasate's players clearly showed, in Sánchez Martínez's opinion, the existence of an infraction in the moments prior. "The handball is accidental, immediate, I'm going to disallow the goal", stated the referee right after finishing his review at the VAR monitor located at Santiago Bernabéu.

"I'm going to disallow the goal", Sánchez Martínez repeated once more before leaving the screen and approaching Arda Güler to offer him the necessary explanations for the decision made. The disallowance of that goal returned Real Madrid to a very tight situation on the match scoreboard, which was close to becoming the first league draw.
The saving intervention by Álvaro Carreras, clearing a ball off the goal line, in a way saved the three points for the team coached by Xabi Alonso. The controversy over the video refereeing remains ongoing with this audio from the review of Arda Güler's goal, the only play that Sánchez Martínez personally reviewed in the match.
