Thiago Pitarch has Moroccan roots, so he can follow in Brahim's footsteps

There was concern at Real Madrid about the possible inaction of the federation

Real Madrid are once again on alert over what could happen with one of its great talents. This time, Thiago Pitarch, who's been the sensation of the summer because of his level. At Valdebebas, they're delighted and Xabi Alonso has admitted that he's been amazed by his performance.

However, the club is concerned about what could happen since the midfielder has Moroccan roots. Real Madrid wants to have a presence in the Spanish national team. But in recent years, they're facing a major problem: the Federation.

They've already seen how they didn't lift a finger to keep Brahim, who ended up being drafted by Morocco. This was something they feared could happen with Pitarch, who could follow the same path. With Nico Paz, a major star in Serie A, they let him leave for Argentina.

These were footballers who could choose one national team or another because of their origins. In Pitarch's case, his grandfather made him part of Morocco's plans for the future. So they'd have to fight to convince the Madrid youth academy player to secure him.

Spain now does take action

After seeing how they did nothing to keep Madridist talents, the federation is now reacting. They've drafted Thiago Pitarch for the next U-20 national team friendlies. He earned this thanks to his performances last season and in preseason.

In fact, he hasn't been the only one and they've also drafted Castilla's new striker, Rachad Fettal. In his case, he was in a very similar situation, since he could be drafted by Morocco. With the precedent of Brahim, they didn't want the Federation to let them slip away again.

They haven't done the same with Barça players, for whom they've made a lot of effort. They've even sent emissaries on other occasions to talk to Barça footballers. This is a very different way of acting depending on the jersey they wore, which finally seems to have changed.
