Vinícius on the edge: the reason why his contract renewal could fall apart

We could say that Vinícius is experiencing his most challenging moment since he broke out as a footballer for Real Madrid. His quality as a footballer leaves no doubt, but, from the moment he didn't win the Ballon d'Or, everything seems to have changed. Some point out that the award received by Rodrigo Hernández "Rodri" hurt him a lot, while others point to the arrival of Kylian Mbappé.

Although the reason is unknown, what is certain is that Vinícius has dropped his level significantly since the Ballon d'Or ceremony. In fact, the Brazilian won't be among the favorite players to win the award in the 2024/25 campaign.

After a Club World Cup in which he only appeared in the third match against RB Salzburg, all eyes are on the Brazilian. His level disappointed again and some are talking about a possible departure from Real Madrid in the current transfer window. However, the Brazilian is still thinking about renewing his contract with the club of his life.

Could there be a change of plans in Vinícius's renewal?

For now, the only thing missing for Vinícius's renewal with Real Madrid to become official is the signature. Both parties have spoken and everything is more than agreed, but it still needs to be sealed. Currently, the Brazilian's contract runs until 2027, so the club intends to extend it so that another club doesn't secure his services.

However, according to Marco Ruíz, journalist for the newspaper AS, this agreement could be forgotten if the player doesn't sign. These are quite hectic weeks, in which Vinícius's figure isn't at its best, so things could become turbulent at any moment.

For now, his departure seems more than ruled out and, although many are calling for his farewell, everyone believes that he will remain at Real Madrid. Vinícius loves playing for the white team and Florentino isn't considering the end of the Brazilian's cycle. However, Saudi Arabia is still watching everything from the background and an astronomical offer could change everything.
