He wants to leave the Premier League and calls Real Madrid, he could be the '9' Xabi needs

Xabi Alonso could seriously consider this move after the Club World Cup

Real Madrid is focused on the present, as this means competing in the Club World Cup, something Xabi Alonso spoke about to the media.

"It's not time to talk about the future but about the present. We're in the middle of a Club World Cup (Mundial de Clubes) and I'm happy to get to know each other, to help them, and to take the path we believe is right," said the man from Tolosa when he was asked about the transfer market at a press conference, since he doesn't want any distractions in the Madridist squad.

However, the reality is that Florentino Pérez and José Ángel Sánchez's work doesn't stop, so they're planning for 2025-2026.

This means the club's sporting directors are considering the different possibilities the market offers.

Xabi Alonso is very happy with Gonzalo, who's working very well in training and in the matches he's played, although this might not be enough for him to stay on the team. The final decision will always be up to the Basque coach.

German option

In recent hours, the name of Niclas Füllkrug, who's reportedly looking for new adventures, and Real Madrid would be an alternative.

The German striker would fit perfectly into Florentino Pérez and José Ángel Sánchez's plans, since he's a box striker and would have an affordable starting price.

The club currently doesn't have a box striker, beyond the contribution Gonzalo is making in the Club World Cup (Mundial de Clubes) and the very positive impression he's leaving.

"He's a more dynamic striker, not positional. He's not a box player. We can have rotations, not fixed players. Sensations can be automated within their usual qualities," said Xabi Alonso when talking about Kylian Mbappé, who's his starting "9".

This means the man from Tolosa wants a forward who complements the rest of the attacking footballers he has, and Niclas Füllkrug could be the ideal one.

For now, this and other transfer market possibilities will be analyzed more thoroughly after the FIFA Club World Cup (Mundial de Clubes).
