Xabi doesn't want to repeat Ancelotti's mistakes, the league debut proves him right

The Tolosarra is already imposing his law and wants to avoid making the mistakes Madrid made last season

With Xabi Alonso's arrival on Real Madrid's bench, some things were bound to change for Los Blancos. The club was certain they needed that change of direction after a period full of successes. However, some mistakes had been repeated and now they had a good opportunity to fix them.

One of those was regarding penalty kicks, a real headache last season. Ancelotti didn't manage to establish an order and that created conflicts every time a penalty was awarded. This was further magnified by the number of misses that occurred in quite a few of them.

But Xabi Alonso has wanted to put an end to that and doesn't want to repeat the mistakes Ancelotti made. This was seen in the league debut, where Mbappé was the one in charge of taking the penalty. Even his teammates understood it, as Trent picked up the ball and handed it directly to Kylian.

This way, it seems clear that with Xabi, the Frenchman will be the penalty specialist. Vinicius will have to wait to be the second option and doubts arise with the third if neither is on the field. At least the debate that took place last season has ended.

The problem could arise without Mbappé and Vinicius on the field

Mbappé will be the penalty taker and in his absence, Vinicius will take on the responsibility. It seems clear how the order is set if a referee awards a penalty. The problem could arise if neither of them is on the field.

Rodrygo and Bellingham also wanted to join the battle during the early stages of last season. Although they were soon ruled out, they could fight to be the third option. However, a new contender has emerged, but he didn't get off to a good start.

In the Club World Cup, against Al Hilal, Real Madrid had a penalty in the final moments. Fede Valverde was the one who took on the responsibility, but he ended up missing the shot. He had always shown himself to be reliable in shootouts, but on that occasion, he ended up failing.
