The Merengue coach warns all players about their role for next season

While Real Madrid players are wrapping up their vacations, Xabi Alonso and the first team's coaching staff are still designing tactical plans for the upcoming season. One of the most controversial and debated points is the role of each footballer in Santiago Bernabéu locker room.

The regular starters seem to be almost decided based on what was seen during the Club World Cup. Although there were only a few matches, the Tolosa coach would have used that experience in the United States to almost completely shape his next preferred starting eleven. Brahim Díaz would not be included in those plans.

This is what Xabi Alonso himself would have told the Moroccan "21" according to the information published by MARCA. The message from the new coach is clear: Brahim Díaz will keep his role as a rotation player during the 25/26 season. However, that decision could mean a change compared to Carlo Ancelotti's management.

Because Brahim Díaz was also one of the first substitutes for the Italian strategist, but he didn't have as many opportunities to come off the bench or act as a replacement for the regular starters. Those dynamics would change with the new plans from Xabi Alonso, who plans to use the entire squad.

Two different paths

The five substitutions, as well as the broad range of profiles the Tolosa coach has at his disposal, are the perfect excuse to rotate in almost every match on the calendar. Especially with a Brahim Díaz eager to prove himself... Even though he would already be informed of his substitute role for the rapidly approaching campaign.

The coaching staff has already sent the message to the player. Now his own continuity is at stake: not because of external factors, but because of his reaction to that decision from Xabi Alonso. Brahim Díaz has the opportunity to remain in Santiago Bernabéu locker room, accepting that secondary role and continuing on his current path.

But he could also reject that proposal from Xabi Alonso, who regrets not being able to offer him a place in the preferred starting eleven. Aware that some elite European football clubs would be willing to accept his arrival as a regular starter, his departure would not be frowned upon by the board of directors.

Brahim Díaz must make a decision before the summer vacation ends. Xabi Alonso is counting on him, despite this secondary role in which he is finally being fully integrated, because he is one of his key second-line assets. It remains to be seen whether the Moroccan "21" ultimately accepts his secondary role at Real Madrid or decides to seek a starting position away from the Spanish capital this very summer.
