Gonzalo García accepts the offer after Endrick's injury, will sign in the next few hours

One of the best conclusions reached by the coaching staff led by Xabi Alonso during the Club World Cup has a name of its own: Gonzalo García. Real Madrid Castilla's "30" was included in the Merengue expedition to the United States to replace Endrick, who was injured. However, he made the most of his moment, granted by the acute gastroenteritis that Kylian Mbappé suffered during the tournament.

While it is true that the Bondy forward recovered in time to play a few minutes in the round of 16 and quarterfinals, starting in the semifinals, Gonzalo García made his mark. His excellent goal generation average in just six matches, almost a goal per game, is a new footballing argument for the Merengue coaches.

From the Valdebebas offices, they have also not missed the opportunity to approach Gonzalo García. The footballer trained at La Fábrica already had several approaches from England and Italy, offers that the White bosses would study right after the end of the Club World Cup.

The performance of "30", however, has radically changed that roadmap according to what we have learned at Defensa Central. From considering his departure, as part of the "exodus" of talent that the White academy experiences every summer, to receiving a contract renewal that establishes him as an essential asset for the first team.

The approaches from Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Juventus of Turin, and AC Milan have not had any effect: the footballer only wanted to keep wearing the White jersey, a future already granted. The negotiators led by Florentino Pérez, according to Tomás González-Martín, "have already started talks with his representatives to extend and expand the current contract".

That bond would expire, at least for now, in the summer of 2027. That is not the idea that has taken shape at the top of the White hierarchy, as they want to keep Gonzalo García beyond the two-year limit. That's why the White executives would follow the path taken with some of the young prospects recently added to Santiago Bernabéu locker room: contract until 2031.

That six-year renewal would make the difference compared to the player who is now his direct competition: Endrick. The "16" verdeamarelo was injured during the Club World Cup, an ailment that would keep him off the field for about eight weeks (8 weeks)... always according to the most optimistic forecasts.

During that time, spurred on by a renewal that is already taking shape on his competitive horizon, Gonzalo García would act as Kylian Mbappé's second-in-command. This attempt at renewal comes at another important moment for the Merengue team, given that the "9" jersey is available. Only one of the two will be able to claim that highly significant number.
