He is Injured and Will Miss Arsenal - Madrid for Sure, a Key Player

Calafiori left injured in the international match with Italy and it is estimated that he will be out for a month

New Blow for Italy and Arsenal. Riccardo Calafiori has been injured and his presence in the Champions League quarterfinals is in doubt.

The defender suffered a fall in stoppage time (93') of the Italy - Germany match. His left knee was strained, and he left the field in pain, although he wasn't substituted because Italy had no substitutions left.

"We still don't know if he's injured. 'Ricky' feels something strange in his knee, but we don't know yet," explained Spalletti, the 'azzurra' coach, at the end of the match. "I still don't know..." the footballer stated about the condition of his knee, in the mixed zone.

This morning, the FIGC confirmed his absence for the next match. The exams revealed a trauma with a sprain and contusion in the left knee. They didn't detail the severity, but he was ruled out of the squad list.

A Month Out

According to initial reports, Calafiori could be out of action for at least a month. This leaves him almost ruled out for the first leg of Arsenal - Real Madrid on April 8.

The player will return to London in the coming hours. There, he will undergo further medical tests. The concern is significant. It should be remembered that he already suffered a serious injury to his left knee, tearing the ligaments and meniscus while playing for Roma.

That absence cost him 11 months off the field, but the player returned to the level he promised. After stints at Basel and Bologna, he had a great Euro Cup last summer and ended up signing for the North London club, where he is a regular at left-back.

Hope for the Return

Arsenal remain hopeful that Calafiori can recover for the return leg at Santiago Bernabéu on April 16. However, his recovery will dictate the timing of his return.

The Italian is a key piece in Mikel Arteta's scheme. His absence will be a tough blow for the Gunners, who are looking to eliminate Real Madrid and advance to the Champions League semifinals.

We will have to wait for the coming days to know his progress.
