Iñaki Williams Doesn't Hold Back: Historic Rant against Barça over Dani Olmo
The Athletic player has been very clear about what happened with Barcelona
Athletic didn't play their best game in the Spanish Supercopa against Barça and were defeated. Ernesto Valverde's team moves away from their dream of competing for a new title. It was a game marked by controversy from the start due to the Dani Olmo case.
Before the game began, we learned of the CSD's decision to grant Barça a temporary measure to register. This way, they can count on Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor until a decision is made. Something that not everyone liked, as exemplified by Iñaki Williams.
The forward was asked his opinion about the decision made regarding the Barça players. "In the same line as all soccer fans, surprised," he began saying. He left a clear statement: "It seems that the rules aren't the same for everyone."
In fact, it wasn't the only time he spoke that way about what had happened. He insisted that "rules are meant to be followed. And if they're not, there should be some kind of penalty." He assured that "the image of Spanish soccer might be a bit tarnished."
Barça sets a dark precedent in Spanish soccer with the Dani Olmo case
With this decision, Barça sets a dark precedent in Spanish soccer and the way of acting. They're allowed to register players outside the deadline that had been stipulated by everyone. The worst part is that it's not the first time they've tried some trick with the law.
It's worth remembering that in 2022 they also went to ordinary justice for a temporary measure. In that case, they didn't want to lose Lewandowski for a classic against Espanyol. They set a dangerous precedent by going beyond sports to try to prove their point.
Not to mention that the levers they used to sign players were declared illegal afterward. Or that for years they've been paying the vice president of the referees and there still haven't been any consequences. A long list of blunders with the Barça team that's far from over.
