Klopp wanted to sign him, Arne Slot has him within reach ten years later: 'We've talked...'
Liverpool is about to secure the services of this footballer: it has been trying for years
Jürgen Klopp never hid that he would have loved to have Rodrygo Goes in his squad. In fact, the German manager tried to sign him for Liverpool, but the deal ultimately didn't happen. The Brazilian ended up joining Real Madrid.
Even Nick Arcuri, the footballer's agent, revealed in 2020 that the English club had already contacted him. "When Rodrygo went to sign his first professional contract with Santos, at 16 years old, a Liverpool executive called me saying that Klopp already knew about the player."
These words, which were given in an interview for Canal Do Nicola, haven't gone unnoticed and are once again present at Anfield. Arne Slot is close to achieving what his predecessor couldn't: coaching the former Santos player.

According to ESPN Brasil, the Reds are going to pursue this deal, although no offer has yet arrived at Valdebebas. Our colleagues at Defensa Central have been able to confirm that Florentino Pérez is starting to listen to offers starting at €80 million. The president believes that he is a great player, but, true to his style, he doesn't want to keep anyone against their will.
The Club World Cup has been significant in many ways, among them that Rodrygo isn't a starter in this new project. Xabi Alonso only started him in the debut against Al-Hilal and since then he has been a substitute. In fact, there were matches in which he didn't play a single minute.
It can be the big sale
Authorized voices from the white house highlight that the '11' merengue has many chances to be the big sale of the summer. The technical department estimates that maybe this could be the ideal time to part ways with him and get a good amount of money.

However, for that to happen, an offer must arrive that satisfies the wishes of the institution and the player himself, who shouldn't forget that there's a World Cup in 2026. He will want to receive a call from Carlo Ancelotti and for that, he will need to enjoy a level of prominence that he doesn't seem likely to have at Real Madrid.
