Transfer confirmed during the World Cup, his coach confirms it: 'We're waiting for him'

His arrival is now official, even though there was no intention to make the announcement yet

The Club World Cup is heading into its final rounds, with the semifinals being played. Chelsea and Fluminense will face off on one side, with PSG and Real Madrid in the other matchup. That means transfer market moves are accelerating more and more.

This is the case for Luka Modric, the Croatian who we know won't continue next season at Real Madrid. He isn't renewing his contract and there was uncertainty about what his next destination would be. Now we can confirm that he will sign for Milan, just as Massimiliano Allegri has revealed.

Milan's coach has appeared before the media and made some striking statements. "We're waiting for Luka Modric, he'll arrive in August, he's an important and extraordinary player. He doesn't need an introduction," he explained about the Croatian and his future next season.

Until now, it hadn't been confirmed, with Luka more focused on the Club World Cup with Real Madrid. But those words from Allegri represent the official announcement of his signing for Milan. He'll become a Rossonero player once his contract with the white team ends.

Modric wanted to stay one more season at Real Madrid, until 2026

The truth is that Modric's intention was to stay one more year at Real Madrid, until 2026. Next summer, there is a national team World Cup and he wanted to arrive in top condition to help Croatia. Even Xabi Alonso seems to have given his approval to that contract renewal.

But the white club decided that he wouldn't continue beyond the World Cup. That's why they renewed him for only 15 days, so he could stay until a possible final of the competition. From then on, he'll have to look for a new destination, and this will be Milan in a stage where he has a clear goal.

Modric wanted a team that would be competitive and guarantee him the minutes he considers necessary. He wants to reach the national team World Cup in the best possible shape to help Croatia. Although they won't play in European competition, the Rossoneri can help him achieve it.
