Tottenham go after Rodrygo and Florentino's already told Levy: 'You know...'

New call for the Brazilian striker from the Premier League

The saga created around Rodrygo Goes over the past several weeks continues to take shape. While it is true that Valdebebas offices are recording approaches from several points across the European elite, the Premier League remains the decidedly most active competitor. Now, with Tottenham Hotspur entering the race to sign him.

Until that moment, Liverpool became the number one candidate to secure the services of the "11" verdeamarelo during the current summer transfer window, a circumstance that hasn't changed. However, the emergence of the North London squad could affect the interests of the red team, whose approaches for Rodrygo depend on another market operation.

The same wouldn't happen in Tottenham's case. Its president, Daniel Levy, seems determined to compete with other clubs from its own league to secure the footballing services of the Osasco striker. He doesn't have only one major target in mind: according to information published by the newspaper As, he would like to lower the asking price for the Madrid right winger.

Valdebebas offices would let Rodrygo Goes leave for a figure close to 100 million euros. That transfer fee set by the Merengue bosses seems immovable despite the attempts of the tough English negotiator. Florentino Pérez has met with Daniel Levy on more than one occasion: both know they're worthy "rivals" in the offices of the European elite.

Unacceptable limit

That's why Real Madrid's president has been very clear with Tottenham's boss from the beginning: "You know we're not going to sell him for that price". Daniel Levy would like to reduce the transfer fee to be paid for Rodrygo, setting the final and total cost of the transfer at less than 90 million euros. It's an unacceptable figure, especially for that player.

Real Madrid insists again in response to Tottenham's approach: whoever wants to sign Rodrygo Goes must pay 100 million euros... or face extremely tough negotiations in an attempt to make the signing end up costing a figure clearly above the 90 million that Tottenham has set as its spending cap.

Even though Real Madrid would have opened the exit door for Rodrygo Goes, spurred by Xabi Alonso's technical decisions, they won't let him leave at any price. His loss of prominence during the 24/25 season, including a Club World Cup in which he barely participated, doesn't mean that he'll be allowed to leave without demands in line with his position.

That's why Florentino Pérez has made it clear to Daniel Levy that "You know we're not going to sell him for that price": less than 90 million euros is an unacceptable figure. Therefore, if the North London squad truly wants to have the "11" verdeamarelo... its president will return to Valdebebas offices with a proposal that puts more than 90 million euros on the table.
